Undergraduate Research Assistant

Colorado School of Mines

Hello, I’m Jackson. I’m a senior in the geophysics department here at Colorado School of Mines. Currently, I work with Dr. Bia Villas Bôas and Dr. Gwen Marechal on the analysis of Saildrone data recorded during the Submesoscale Ocean Dynamics Experiment (S-MODE). The main goal of our research is to observe interactions between ocean currents and surface waves through changes in wave variables using Saildrones to improve our understanding of the transport of energy, heat, and mass between the ocean and atmosphere. You can see a more detailed report of the project here!

Outside of research, I like to live an active life. I’m from the greater Chicagoland area so I had the opportunity to pick up new activities like camping, climbing, hiking, and skiing when I moved out to Colorado. In my free time, I take any opportunity I get to enjoy these activities in this great state.
