Hello! My name is Anna Williams, and I’m currently doing research with the Mines Oceanography group led by Dr. Bia Villas Bôas. My research with Bia has been primarily focused on characterizing the dynamic sea state in and around Hurricane Lee using a variety of interesting data sources, including A-sized Directional Wave Spectra Drifters and satellite remote sensing. This research provides a framework of analysis for the Study on Air-Sea Coupling with WAves Turbulence and Clouds at High winds (SASCWATCH). If you’re curious, you can learn more about the big field campaign here.

Outside of classes and research, I enjoy being active outside. I’m a big fan of hiking and camping when I get the chance, and running has always been a major source of joy in my life. Up and around South Table is one of my favorite places to go running in Golden. I’ve also been slowly improving my craft at oil pastels, watercolor, and glassblowing.
